NHS BOARD AGREES LOCATION OF NEW CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Following public consultation, the NHS Board has agreed that the new £100 million Children’s Hospital will be built on the Southern General Campus alongside maternity and adult hospital services.
This will ensure immediate access to specialist services of all kinds and therefore the highest quality and safety standards for mothers, children and babies alike.
The 67-acre Southern General campus was recommended as the best site for the new hospital because, uniquely in Glasgow, it has the required adult services for very unwell mothers, a maternity unit and land available next to the present maternity unit to accommodate the hospital.
