Golden Jubilee National Hospital

The Hospital’s purpose, as envisaged by the Scottish Executive when it purchased the facility for NHS Scotland, is to provide a dedicated elective facility to provide services in key specialities to patients throughout Scotland in order to assist in reducing waiting times. The minimum requirement on the day of purchase was that the hospital would in the first year double the number of procedures carried out in comparison with what had been done the year before. Arrangements were then made with the National Waiting Times Unit (part of the Health Department with responsibility working with NHS Scotland to reduce waiting times) for detailed arrangements to allow access to patients requiring treatment from around the country.
